WHAT IS PST?
Position Specific Training (PST) will help players develop automated technical skills specific to each area of the field.
Automation enables players to make faster and better decisions during games. Lack of automation requires each player to expend more attention to individual skill execution, which slows the decision process and reduces the number of solutions (example - a right footed midfielder who, when opponents force the ball to their left foot, has difficulty finding a solution).
PST focuses on developing the highest number of automations for each player. Training is done first individually with no pressure, then slight pressure, and finally in fully active conditions.
Additionally, general technical training (comfort level with the ball and automated actions) is necessary for constant development and refinement of technical skills.
